Geophysical report

Any mentioned solar flare in this report has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Because of the SWPC scaling factor, solar flares are reported as 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.

C. Geomagnetic Activity Summary
FIELD ACTIVITY VARIED FROM UNSETTLED TO SEVERE STORM LEVELS DUE TO CORONAL MASS EJECTION EFFECTS. THE MOST INTENSE ACTIVITY OCCURRED DURING 22/0500 - 0900Z WITH MAJOR TO SEVERE STORM LEVELS DETECTED AT MIDDLE AND HIGH LATITUDES. FIELD ACTIVITY GRADUALLY DECREASED TO UNSETTLED TO MINOR STORM LEVELS DURING THE SECOND HALF OF THE PERIOD.
