Geophysical report

Any mentioned solar flare in this report has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Because of the SWPC scaling factor, solar flares are reported as 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.

A GREATER THAN 10 MEV PROTON EVENT BEGAN AT 28/1050Z, REACHED A MAXIMUM FLUX OF 18 PFU AT 28/1130Z, AND ENDED AT 28/1310Z.
C. Geomagnetic Activity Summary
THE GEOMAGNETIC FIELD WAS FROM QUIET TO MINOR STORM LEVELS. A SHOCK WAS OBSERVED AT ACE AT 28/0543Z, SHORTLY FOLLOWED BY A SUDDEN IMPULSE AT 28/0635Z (MEASURING 41 NT). THE LIKELY SOURCE OF THIS DISTURBANCE WAS A CME FROM 25 JULY.
