Solar activity has been quiet with one isolated C2.2 flare originating from AR NOAA 1650. Conditions are expected to be rather quiet, but an isolated C flare or M flare is possible especially from AR NOAA 1654. A partial HALO CME has been detected by LASCO C2 at January 16th 2013 19:12 UT and confirmed in STEREO A C2. The source region seems to be NOAA 1650 on the southwest limb based on the SWAP images of Proba2. CACTUS indicates a velocity of around 680 km/s and an angular width of 122 degrees. There is a small chance that this CME might reach Earth around January 20th 2013 01:30 UT and become geo-effective. The interplanetary magnetic field increased slightly to 10 nT with a positive Bz component. Geomagnetic conditions are quiet and expected to remain so for the next 48 hours.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 045, based on 04 stations.
