An active region slightly behind the east limb produced a long duration C1.6 flare peaking at 01:14 UT, related to a backsided CME that won't affect the Earth. This AR can produce more energetic events as it rotates into the visible part of the solar disk. A partial halo CME was seen at 06:12 UT on LASCO-C2 on the northwestern quadrant, this is also a backsided event that won't affect the Earth. Geomagnetic conditions have been quiet, they may reach active levels when the fast solar wind stream from a coronal hole arrives to the Earth in the next 24 hours.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 045, based on 17 stations.
