Bulletin

Solar activity was very quiet with no sunspots on the disk and X-ray flux at background levels and this is expected to persist over the next days. No Earth directed CMEs have been observed in coronagraph data. Proton flux values were at background levels and expected to remain so.

Solar wind conditions remained elevated under the high speed stream influence of the Southern polar coronal hole extension. Solar wind speed remained mainly in the 650-750 km/s regime. The total field was at nominal values around 5nT, with the Bz component fluctuating. The phi angle indicated a negative sector throughout the period. Enhanced solar wind conditions are expected to continue for another day and gradually decline afterwards. Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to active (local K Dourbes 1-3, NOAA Kp 3-4). Further active periods are likely to occur as high speed stream influence continues with isolated minor storms possible.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 12 stations.
