Bulletin

Solar flaring activity was at very low levels. No significant flares have been recorded. Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery in the last 24 hours.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to stay at nominal levels for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was between nominal and moderate levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to be at nominal to moderate levels over the next 24 hours.

The solar wind speed near Earth oscillated around 320 km/s (DSCOVR). The total magnetic field was unremarkable, varying between 0 and 7 nT. Bz reached a minimum of -4 nT. The Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) phi angle was predominantly in the negative sector (directed towards the Sun). Predominantly background solar wind conditions are expected for May 03 - 05. The solar wind associated with the negative polarity coronal hole, that transited the central meridian on May 01, is predicted to influence Earth from late on May 04.

Geomagnetic conditions were quiet (local K Dourbes and NOAA Kp recorded values between 0-2) over the last 24 hours. Quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected for May 03 with unsettled conditions possible from late on May 04, due to the arrival of the high speed stream associated with the small equatorial coronal hole mentioned above.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 16 stations.
