Geophysical report

Any mentioned solar flare in this report has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Because of the SWPC scaling factor, solar flares are reported as 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.

C. Geomagnetic Activity Summary
THE GEOMAGNETIC FIELD WAS QUIET UNTIL 01/2158UT WHEN A SUDDEN IMPULSE OF 36NT AT BOULDER WAS OBSERVED. THIS SUDDEN IMPULSE IS BELIEVED TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE M6 FLARE AND CME OBSERVED ON 29 APR. THE FIELD HAS BEEN AT ACTIVE LEVELS SINCE THE SUDDEN IMPULSE. ENERGETIC ELECTRON FLUXES AT GEOSYNCHRONOUS ORBITS WAS LOW TO NORMAL.
