Geophysical report

Any mentioned solar flare in this report has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Because of the SWPC scaling factor, solar flares are reported as 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.

The geomagnetic field has been quiet at all latitudes for the past 24 hours.
D. Stratwarm
STRATWARM ALERT/WEDNESDAY/STRATWARM EXISTS. STRONG MINOR WARMING CONTINUES. SPLITTED VORTEX IN THE LOWER STRATOSPHERE WITH THE MAIN CENTRE OVER CANADA AND A SECOND CENTRE OVER SIBERIA, WHILE A WARM ANTICYCLONE IS LOCATED OVER THE NORTHERN ATLANTIC REGION WITH THE WARM AIR OVER GREENLAND. AT 5 AND 10 HPA, REVERSED TEMPERATURE GRADIENT BETWEEN 60N AND THE POLE. MEAN ZONAL WIND AT 60N VERY WEAK FROM THE WEST IN THE UPPER STRATOSPHERE.
