Geophysical report

Any mentioned solar flare in this report has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Because of the SWPC scaling factor, solar flares are reported as 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.

C. Geomagnetic Activity Summary
The geomagnetic field was mostly active with minor and major storm periods. Heightened activity was due to the presence of a geoeffective high speed stream that began early on 06 March. Solar wind speed at ACE remained elevated between 600 km/s and 700 km/s.

G1 - Minor geomagnetic storm

Observed Kp: 5
Threshold reached: 20:02 UTC

Current data suggests there is a slight possibility for aurora to appear at the following high latitude regions in the near future

Tórshavn
Oulu, Rovaniemi, Sodankylä, Utsjoki
Kirkenes, Tromsø, Trondheim
Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Vorkuta
Kiruna, Luleå, Umeå
The Disturbance Storm Time index predicts moderate storm conditions right now (-70nT)
