Bulletin

Only a handful (mainly) lower C-class flares erupted during the past 24 hours, while the background of the Xray flux is at the higher B-level. The main event was a C4.3 flare, originating from Catania sunspot region 46 (NOAA active region 2448). NOAA 2249 (no Catania number yet) is the other region that is producing some flares. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed. Flaring at the C-level is expected to continue. Earth is inside a stable solar wind, with a speed near 450 km/s. The magnitude of the interplanetary magnetic field obtains values between 7 and 10 nT, with a mainly negative Bz component till -9 nT. Geomagnetic activity reached active levels (K=4) at local (at Dourbes) and global levels (NOAA estimated Kp). Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions are expected, with some chance for active conditions, due to effects of a coronal hole high speed stream.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 064, based on 08 stations.
