Bulletin

Solar activity continues to be at the B-class level. C-class flares are possible as new regions rotate over the visible solar disk. There is a geomagnetic storm in progress (Kp reached 6, K at Dourbes went up to 5). The storm is caused by the compression region preceding the expected arrival of a fast speed solar wind stream from a coronal hole. Bz remained negative between 02:00 UT and 08:00 UT with elevated magnitudes of the interplanetary magnetic field (B ~ 20 nT). The solar wind reached 500 km/s. More storm periods can be expected for the next 48 h, as the solar wind speed is going to increase. Another coronal hole has crossed the central meridian today, indicating that the influence of fast speed streams at the Earth will last until next week.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 034, based on 07 stations.
