Bulletin

NOAA AR 2468 produced two C flares in the past 24 hours. The brightest flare was a C6.6 flare which peaked at 8:34 UT on December 16. C flares are possible within the next 24 hours, with a chance for an M flare. The speed of the solar wind gradually increased from about 530 to 650 km/s, and decreased again with current values near 540 km/s. The magnitude of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field varied between 3 and 10 nT, and is currently around 4 nT. During the past 24 hours, quiet to unsettled geomagnetic levels were registered (K Dourbes between 1 and 3, NOAA Kp between 1 and 4). Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions (K Dourbes < 4) are expected on December 16, 17, and 18.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 059, based on 06 stations.
