Bulletin

Over the past 24 hours solar activity has been low. Catania active region #1 remained inactive, producing only A-class flares. No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected. The greater than 10MeV proton flux remained at background levels over the past 24 hours. Solar activity is expected to remain very low over the next 24 hours. The solar wind speed has increased from 400 till 600 km/s over the past 24 hours under the influence of the negative polarity coronal hole. The total magnetic field strength has increased from 5 till 12 nT. The Bz component fluctuated around 0 nT, ranging between -9 and +8 nT. Geomagnetic conditions ranged between Kp index 1-4 (NOAA) and local K index 0-4 (Dourbes) over the past 24 hours. Mostly active geomagnetic conditions can be expected. There is high chance for a minor storm to occurre within the next 24 hours. An isolated episode of major storm (Kp=6) is also possible.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 010, based on 04 stations.
