Solar activity was at very low levels. The Sun was spotless. No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) have been observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values.
Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.
Solar wind speed first reached a maximum wind speed near 430 km/s by 15:30UT, then started a gradual decrease ending the period near 380 km/s (ACE). The direction of the interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was variable. Bz varied between -6 and +6 nT, with a quieter period between -3 and +2 nT from 18UT until 09UT. Geomagnetic activity was at quiet levels, with K Dourbes recording a few unsettled episodes.
Geomagnetic activity is expected to remain at quiet to unsettled levels.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 09 stations.
