The visible side of the solar disc is still spotless. There were no flares reported during last 24 hours and we do not expect flaring activity in the coming hours. No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were reported and the solar protons remained at the background level.
The in situ data indicate possible arrival of the solar wind from the negative polarity coronal hole (simultaneous increase of the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude and the solar wind speed) starting from about 22:00 UT on December 14. The maximum of the solar wind speed of 430 km/s was reached at 01:30 UT this morning. The solar wind speed is presently about 370 km/s and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is 6 nT. The geomagnetic conditions are quiet and we expect them to stay so in the coming hours.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 19 stations.
