Solar activity was at very low levels. Spotless region NOAA 2696 was quiet. No earth-directed CMEs were observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels.
Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.
Earth is under the weakening influence of the wind stream from the trans- equatorial extension of the negative southern polar coronal hole (CH). Solar wind speed gradually decreased from an initial range between 520-550 km/s to a current range between 470-500 km/s (DSCOVR). Bz varied between -4 and +4 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field was mostly directed towards the Sun.
The geomagnetic field was at quiet to unsettled levels and is expected to remain so, with a decreasing chance on an isolated active episode.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 14 stations.
